The Genderbread Person has been floating around the web for some time in one form or another. The latest version is posted here, and it features a non-continuum style of conceptualizing gender identity, gender expression, etc. Your thoughts?

I think it's a useful graphic for illustrating how all these features of a person can be different - that there's no necessary connection between physical sex and gender identity and expression, for instance. I also think breaking the "opposites into two separate poles rather than one continuum is nice. But I think there are always limitations to graphical models that leave something out, or gloss over important nuances. That being said, it's cute and accessible, and seems like a handy 101 kind of tool.
ReplyDeleteI think it's an awesome 101 style tool for sure.
ReplyDeleteThere is not such thing as 'gender identity', gender is the same as sex.
