Do we have any way of tracking where the money goes when we send aid to regimes like Mubaraks? It would at least be comforting to know that it helped the poor or improved their infrastructure or something.
It basically bought us a good location for military staging and an ally for the extraordinary rendition/torture of suspected terrorists. So I'd say we got our money's worth.
Ouch! We certainly do have a skewed sense of vision as a culture, don't we?
