I come from a rural/ag background, and when I hear defenses of factory farming I just shake my head. In the culture of the rural/ag community, using common sense is a huge value. And yet you see these people defending factory farming and denying that overcrowding and disgusting conditions lead to the spread of disease and food safety issues. How can you claim to be a down-to-earth, commonsensical person and still not see this connection? The mind boggles.

ReplyDeleteSo true. It's astounding that you have to explain to people that overcrowding plus piles of manure equals disease. How can anyone not know this?
