Real Women Have...

...no left hip, apparently.

Now that's something we can all aspire to.

*Ahem.*

Now that's something to which we can all aspire.

(The grammar police are in my head - I can't help myself.)

So this raises an interesting question. Why does she feel like she has to deny an obvious photoshop gaffe? My impression is that the people whose images are so often heavily altered really don't have any say in the matter. Does she bear responsibility for this? Is she at all to blame? Who do we hold accountable for all the body image bullshit that's so prevalent in the beauty/fashion/celeb industries?

  1. Apparently, we have no body fat, either.

    I'm feeling all aspirey.

(Blame too many hours of Buffy for the oddly placed "y".)

  2. I thought I was so chic for having my right hip removed. I thought absent right hips were all the rage this fall. Dammit.

I definitely think celebrities can have a say in this, although I don't think they're solely responsible. But if they refused to do photoshoots that were going to be highly altered, that would have an immediate impact on the industry.

Other celebrities have refused to allow photoshopping of their photos to make a point before, so obviously they can control this. I don't think most of them want the photoshopping to stop, though. For obvious reason.
